Please Share* GOLD COAST SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES. For people in the GOLD COAST CITY, LOGAN CITY, IPSWICH CITY, SCENIC RIM and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, LOCKYER VALLEY, SOMERSET, REDLAND CITY and North Stradbroke Island Council Areas. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:35 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Border Ranges National Park, Harrisville, Grandchester, Rosewood, the NSW border and the area south of the NSW border. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely. They are forecast to affect Ipswich, the area between Boonah and Beaudesert, Bundamba Lagoon, Greenbank, Redbank Plains and Amberley by 1:05 pm and Beaudesert, Beenleigh, Logan City, Logan Village, Woodridge and Sunnybank Hills by 1:35 pm. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 1:30 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219.
