Please can you post this, but edit my details for obvious reasons... I am a Police Officer and had been in the CID for a number of years. I was approached by HQ and asked to work as a Police Translator for the England Germany game as I speak fluent German. I was given a uniform, but remembered I still had a flat cap lying around at home as I had recently seen my son playing with it. My son was about five and was fascinated by soldiers, war games and all things military. I got to the match and mingled with thousands of supporters - when a Superintendent came over to speak to me. Suddenly, his face went bright purple and his voice rose to the pitch of an eight year old choirboy as he asked me through gritted teeth if I was actually taking the piss? I was dumbstruck. I had no idea what the man was talking about. At that he said Your HAT! Your bleeding HAT! - hopping around like Basil Fawlty on steroids. I hastily took my hat off to look at it and it was only then that the true horror set in. My darling son had drawn a tiny little Swastika on EVERY white square of the chequered band...!
