Please sign the petition! We must stop Kinder Morgan from destroying the land. The city of Burnaby has spoken, the people have spoken, the Tsleil-Waututh Nation has spoken. Kinder Morgan has broken municpal laws by cutting down trees. Kinder Morgan and his dirty greedy hands are not welcome. They have no jurisdiction over this land. The tar sands are an environmental and social crime. We need to be investing in and supporting renewable energy. “Even though this pipeline has not been approved, Kinder Morgan thinks nothing of illegally entering our park, causing irreparable harm to the ecosystem and defying the laws our citizens have put in place. We can find other sources of energy, but not new sources of water. We need environmental protection. Protect the people, not the corporations! The protesters on the mountain deserve our respect. They are up there standing ground for the well being of the planet and every living being on it. They certainly do not deserve police brutality. What I saw up on that mountain will haunt me for life. These people are trying to protect our land and our ocean...for everyone! David Suzuki: The world is on a collision course with the things that keep us alive and healthy - the air, water, soil and variety of life. Corporations, especially those with head offices in some other part of the country or the world care little for the interests of local ecosystems or communities, except in so far as they interfere with the drive to maximize profit for shareholders. They have no obligation to protect local ecosystems or local communities. Their sole goal is to make as much money as they can get away with.
