Police have revoked an emergent situation which had been declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act following the discovery of a suspicious item at Rockhampton this morning. The item was located under a private vehicle at the North Rockhampton Police Station on Robinson Street in Frenchville around 6.15am. Specialist police examined the device and rendered it safe before the emergency declaration was revoked at 1pm. Detective Acting Inspector Scott Moon said detectives had commenced an investigation into the matter. “Police treat incidents of this nature very seriously and detectives from Rockhampton CIB will continue to investigate the origins of this device,” Detective Acting Inspector Moon said. “We would like to thank the community for their patience and co-operation while police responded to this incident and urge anyone with information which could assist with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers or their nearest police station.”
