OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION Under the overall supervision of the On Site Monitoring Supervisor Engineer, the incumbent will be required to work as a member of a team of Engineers and Administrative staff for the successful implementation of all of the MMU project activities. GENERAL FUNCTIONS Purpose and Scope of Assignment In particular, he/she will have the following responsibilities: ·To calculate actual construction materials quantities shelter construction sites (Office desk review). ·Carries out in the office random technical audits of interim/final quantities supplied materials for shelter construction projects received from on-site quantity surveyors. ·To generate/maintain relevant records on Materials Tracking System (MTS), upload supporting photos on (MTS), accurate filing in the office. ·Office monitoring and noting any discrepancies in the use of materials (more or less) that will need verification by the International MMU Engineer. ·To apply a neat and accurate approach in all day to day activities. ·Any other duties relevant to the role and to carry out all reasonable requests of Monitoring Supervisor Engineer and/or management. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Education • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in quantity surveying or other relevant discipline; Work Experience ·Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience of undertaking measurements/estimating in a construction environment. ·Experience of working on a live project, undertaking measurement and valuation functions. ·Experience of construction procedures and methods in the Middle East. ·Must have excellent IT skills in the application of computers in the above duties, including work processing, spread sheet and bill of quantities; Word; Outlook. ·Adept at understanding construction drawings and able to measure and take off accurately. ·Understanding of the inter-relationship between bills, specifications and drawings. ·Understanding the importance of business Procedures. ·Understanding of construction contracts in relation to projects and of the relevance of sub contract terms and conditions. ·Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined, multi-cultural team. ·Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people. ·Able to read a construction programme and relevance of the critical path (desirable). ·Understanding of Health & Safety issues at work and on site. Key Competencies ·Professionalism - Strong theoretical background and substantive experience in all phases of international supply chain operations; good working knowledge of INCOTERMS and expertise in handling complex supply chain issues and in the context of UN policies and standards; strong analytical skills and working knowledge of quantitative methods; good knowledge of sources of supply, customs clearance process, market trends, delivery constraints, etc.; sound judgment in applying technical expertise to resolve a range of issues/problems; ability to provide technical guidance to new/junior staff. ·Planning and Organizing - Ability to plan work assignments, juggle competing demands and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines, and with minimal direction/supervision. ·Communications - Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, with the capability of articulating the office’s strategic goals into sound operating logistics and asset management plans and processes, and the charisma necessary to effectively focus and motivate employees. ·Technology Awareness - High proficiency with computers in particular MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and the Internet. Proficient knowledge and command of ERP systems used in procurement, logistics and asset management. Advance knowledge of working with internet based applications and languages. ·Teamwork - Experience supporting teams in a complex multi-national, multi-cultural environment is required. Languages ·Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is required. Intermediate English language skills.
