(Posted 9:50 PM EST Monday, January 5, 2015) Wirt, Wood, Ritchie, and Tyler counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory effective at midnight tonight (Monday) through noon Tuesday. Pleasants County and parts of Ohio are under a Winter Storm Warning, and may expect slightly heavier snowfall. Currently there are no active Warnings, Watches, or Advisories for Roane, Calhoun, or Jackson counties. 2-4 total snow accumulation is expected by noon tomorrow in the Advisory area, with the majority falling in the pre-dawn hours. Roads may be covered and/or extremely slick for the Tuesday morning commute. Black ice is possible under snow cover, especially on overpasses and bridges. Visibility may be impaired during squalls. Drivers should allow extra commute time, as well as allow for extra breaking distance between vehicles. Practice good defensive driving! Overnight temperatures will remain in the high teens, but wind chill may make it feel like single digits by morning. Make sure to provide a warm, comfortable place for outdoor pets tonight and the rest of the week as temps continue to remain seasonal. Bundle up children to and from school.
