Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of funds. Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures. Education An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political or social sciences, communication or related discipline in international relations, business administration, management or related field, is required. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in external relations and project/programme management, preferably in the United Nations or similar international organization, is required. Experience in project implementation, operational procedures and budgetary processes is required. Experience in programming with Government departments and representatives of international organizations is highly desirable. Experience in working with partners, particularly Non-Governmental Organziations and in building strategic alliances is highly desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.
