We are now recruiting Delivery Postmen/Delivery Postwomen with driving duties to work at Brentwood - Delivery Office Job reference number: RML056833 Delivery Postpeople represent Royal Mail and are an established part of the community. Youll enjoy working outdoors and meeting people and have a professional and positive attitude. As a Delivery Postperson, you will start the day by collecting pre-sorted mail in order for it to be delivered. The average delivery walk lasts approximately 3 and a half hours and each day you will have to deliver multiple bags (approximately 6-8 mailbags), which can each weigh up to 16kg. You will work in all weathers delivering the mail either on foot, by cycle or in a shared van When driving, youll collect mail from Post Office branches, businesses and post-boxes, transporting it to mail centres, delivery offices and airports. You must hold a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. You need to consider how you will get to work, as public transport may not be available at the start of your shift. The recruitment process can take up to 7 weeks once the vacancy is live on the Royal Mail Website. You will be required to complete online tests as part of the application process. Once you have submitted your complete application the test will be available. Please note, once our maximum number of applications has been reached, this vacancy will be withdrawn. Contract: Perm Hours of work: Part time, 30 hours per week (7.30am - 2.10pm 5 days across Monday to Saturday with 1 day off) Flexibility is essential as start and finish times may vary depending on workload, and you may also be required to work in other offices in the area. Salary: Age 17 - £6.87, Age 18 and above - £8.84 per hour We also offer a Delivery Functional Supplement of £22.27 (pro -rata) plus overtime and shift allowance if applicable. With a pay increment after 6 & 12 months (subject to satisfactory performance) Delivery Postman / Delivery Postwoman requirements: Flexible outlook and openness to change Be willing to carry out a variety of tasks and on occasions work at nearby offices/take on additional work Customer focused Ability to work in a team and individually Accuracy and attention to detail skills Ability to work under pressure alongside problem solving and meeting targets Punctual and reliable Capable of meeting the physical demands of the job the ability to lift & carry bags weighing 16kg each A commitment to health & safety Be security focused Possession of a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
