Presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), is being taught Christian praise songs and hymns aimed at equipping him during campaign exercises, it has been reported. The Nigerian Pilot , which made the disclosure in its Sunday edition, said it was given the information by Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, who served as an agent to Buhari in 2003, when he contested the presidential election on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). The paper quoted Agbonayinma, now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, as saying: “I gathered he is now being taught how to sing Christian songs, which he will sing during campaigns.” Agbonayinma, however, questioned Buhari’s motive in warming up to Christendom. He was quoted as saying, “It is indeed worrisome that Gen. Buhari has become very desperate to win the presidency, hence his overture to the church,” adding: “At 72, what does he now have to offer? He truncated democratic governance at 41. His colleagues overthrew him 18 months after because of his corrupt tendencies, high-handedness and double standards in the governance of the nation. “This same man who truncated a democratically elected government has been desperately seeking to be elected as president and using all manner of stratagem including a dubious overture to the Christian communities to achieve his goal after three previous failed attempts.
