Press Release: One man arrested, one man wanted for attempted murder after a shooting in Leyden Woods last night. #gpdmass On 10/29/2014 at approximately 8:25pm officers were dispatched to the area of Leyden Woods for a report of gunshots fired. As the officers were arriving, a second call came in reporting two people who stated that someone tried to shoot them. Upon investigation officers learned that there was an altercation between a small group of people. Witnesses report that Jose Velasquez, pulled a hand gun out of his waistband and pointed it at the two victims. Jean Rivera grabbed the gun from Jose and operated the action. Jose then took the gun back and started to fire the gun in the air and towards the victims. The victims were not injured; however, a vehicle in the area sustained damage to a rear window and a small hole through the tailgate. Officers were able to locate 22 year old Jean Rivera (pictured in Grey background) who lived in an apartment in Leyden Woods. He was arrested and charged with the following two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Intimidation of a witness, Malicious Destruction of Property and firing a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of a firearm without a license, disorderly conduct, and two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder The Greenfield Police Department is still searching for 25 year old Jose Velasquez (pictured in Blue Background) last known living in the Leyden Woods complex for attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and other firearm related charges. If you see or know the whereabouts of him please do not approach, he is considered armed and dangerous. Please call 911 immediately. This is still an active investigation.
