Prior to the NBPP’s announcement, Najee Muhammad, a former member of the group who now heads the Atlanta-based New Black Liberation Militia, announced his group’s plans to arrest Zimmerman and hand him over to federal authorities. “We’ll find him. We’ve got his mug shot and everything,” Najee Muhammad said on March 16. Najee Muhammad, who served as the NBPP’s national field marshal, left the group a few years ago to form the New Black Liberation Militia and New Black Liberation Institute, which seeks to “ensure the survival of black people in the 21st century and beyond” and build a “strong black army to defend the back nation.” He describes himself as “The Top Student of Dr. Khallid Abdul Muhammad,” the virulently anti-Semitic former leader of the NBPP who died in February 2001.
