Prisoner Bolts after Testicle Surgery A 37-YEAR-OLD convict of Nakonde Central Prison has escaped shortly after undergoing surgery to remove one of his testicles at Isoka District Hospital, Muchinga Province deputy commissioner of police Bonny Kapeso has said. Kapeso said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Tuesday around 10:00 hours. He identified the suspect as Mwaka Silwinga, who is serving a jail sentence for theft. Kapeso said Silwinga escaped shortly after a surgeon only identified as Dr Nkandu performed an operation on him. He said Silwinga was referred to Isoka District Hospital from Nakonde Central Prison for surgery. “The suspect was being guarded by police officers during the period of his admission to Isoka District Hospital but on the day when he was going to the theatre for an operation, the doctor refused to be accompanied by a police officer. “It is believed that Silwinga had one of his testicles removed and he escaped from the theatre room,” Kapeso said.
