Probably one of the most beautiful film programs Ive seen in a very long time, The Obituary Project, by filmmaker Hope Tucker. Every film student should watch a handful of her films and be reminded that just because youve been making films one similar way for a long time, that doesnt mean its ever too late to change things up, aesthetically and stylistically, COMPLETELY. Ive never seen a filmmaker who has been able to encompass such a vast array of styles, techniques, formats, aesthetics, etc, all bound by one basic serial project idea, all created so beautifully and all so incredibly inspiring. The bravery and insane creativity of continually switching between completely different techniques and aesthetics from film to film in the series has even inspired me to shoot a short live action doc in mofo 2.35:1 later this spring. This project is everythingggg.
