Proverbs 4:13,19 (sorry its lengthy) God gives us His armor to wear as protection: the helmet, breastplate, belt, shoes, shield and sword...He also gives us His Spirit to live within us as a guide, comforter, exhorter, conscience...He gives other vessels of His grace and Truth via elder believers, Biblically sound books by Christian authors, radio ministries, Bible teaching churches on every corner...His mercies never end! Proverbs is such an awesome example of this! Verse 13 says that we are to guard His instruction well for it IS OUR LIFE. How many of us would willingly let someone stop our heart, smother us, or otherwise cause us harm...hardly anyone would, they would protect themselves and guard against an attack like that! Yet we are all guilty of laying down our sword (Word of God) at the first sign of attack instead of digging into Gods Word, prayer, and learning how to wield that sword in battle against the enemy. Verse 19 to me is the result of those who refuse to hold on to the Fathers instruction...they live in deep darkness and dont even recognize what causes them to stumble. I want to pay attention to my Father, hang on His every word, hold fast to His teaching. God, please be with me today and help me to guard it well for it is my life, You are my life!
