Provincial Liberals turn their back on local farmers but support a job killing foreign trade centre in Stouffville. I was disappointed, yesterday, to receive a letter from our MPP Helena Jaczek advancing Premier Wynne’s decision to attempt to block the federal plan to create the Rouge National Urban Park. The provincial position is in blind support of radical environmentalists and marginalizes our hard working local farmers. Our farmers create jobs, economic activity and are the best stewards of the land, while the government of Ontario and their radical environmentalist friends only aim to take thousands of acres of Class 1 farmland out of production by evicting farmers and planting trees on their land. Countless residents, local farmers, the York Federation of Agriculture, and Markham Councilor Colin Campbell, who represents part of the future Park, all support our legislation and are calling on the Provincial Liberals to support our farmers and end their politically motivated campaign to stop the Rouge National Urban Park. Premier Wynne and Helena Jaczek have ignored that. At the same time, Premier Wynne and MPP Jaczek support the creation of a local job killing foreign trade centre in Stouffville despite local objections. I am sure most residents of Markham and Stouffville share in my disappointment that the provincial government continually chooses to side with special interest groups over hard working taxpayers and I call on Premier Wynne, MPP Jaczek, and the Government of Ontario to reverse their careless and destructive decisions. I hope to have more information in the coming days on the proposed foreign trade centre in Stouffville and the Rouge National Urban Park.
