QFA Holds Iftar for Ten Asian Communities Qatar Football Association (QFA) organised an Iftar gathering for ten Asian communities on Thursday 10th July at Al Gassar Resort. The communities include Indonesians, Sri Lankans, Nepalese, Malaysians, Singaporeans, Chinese, Japanese, Jordanians, Lebanese, and South Koreans. QFA has organised a series of Iftars for different communities last week to thank them for their ongoing support throughout the year. The Iftars were also intended to discuss future cooperation with community leaders, and ways in which QFA can support communities in their future events and activities. Eight Ambassadors and around two hundred guests attended the Iftar to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan with QFA. The Ambassadors include H.E. Mr. Ahmad Jazri bin Mohd Johar, Ambassador of Malaysia to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Sanjiv Arora, Ambassador of India to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Hasan Najem, Ambassador of Lebanon to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Crescente R. Relación, Ambassador of Philippines to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Chung Keejong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Shingo Tsuda, Ambassador of Japan to Qatar, and H.E. Mr. Wong Kwok Pun, Ambassador of Singapore to Qatar. Hamad Al Kuwari, Deputy of Marketing and Communications in QFA welcomed the Ambassadors and thanked them for their support in previous joint projects between QFA and the communities in Qatar. “We thank everyone for attending the Iftar today. This Iftar reflects the longstanding relationship we have with the various Asian communities in Qatar and is a way for us to thank everyone for all their efforts in supporting QFA’s activities. Through this Iftar, we aim to further develop our relationship with the different segments of the community by organising future initiatives that target spreading football across Qatar.” Hamad Al Kuwari commented. He added: “The first successful initiative that that was organised by QFA for the Asian Communities in Qatar is the “Asian Communities Football Tournament” in which 6 teams participated in its first edition, then 12 teams in its second edition due to its huge success over the last two sports seasons. We will be working again this year with various community leaders to support their community projects and organise joint initiatives that develop the communities.”
