The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Composite Squadron is please to present our newest cadet officer C/2d Lt Victor Kyle. C/2d Lt Kyle was given his rank and General Billy Mitchell Award this evening. This award and rank is earned by Civil Air Patrol cadets who have successfully completed the second phase of the cadet program. It marks the end of the enlisted phase of the cadet program; cadets are promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant. In order to earn this award, a cadet must pass a series of leadership, aerospace and physical fitness tests and attend character development training for each achievement from Cadet Airman Basic through Cadet Chief Master Sergeant. In addition, cadets must attend a military-style encampment before this award is made, and have maintained active membership in the Civil Air Patrol for at least 18 months since joining. 15% of all Civil Air Patrol cadets achieve the Mitchell Award. C/2d Lt Kyles parents placed his shoulder boards on his uniform and switched out his enlisted cap for that of an officer. The squadron also promoted three up-and-coming enlisted cadets. CONGRATULATIONS to Cadets Bryan Piedramartel; promoted to Chief Master Sgt, Jesus Cuevas; promoted to Technical Sgt., Joshua Oki; promoted to Staff Sgt. All four cadets continue the B-CC tradition of excellence and motivation in our organization. Once the ceremony was finished it is our custom for the newly installed cadet officer to lead current and past Mitchell cadets in a round of push-ups with motivation provided loudly by the enlisted and senior members.
