#Queensland #Weather #SeverWarning #QLD #CTCorp 6:41pm Update:~~SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in parts of the Gympie, Somerset and Sunshine Coast Council Areas. Issued at 6:41 pm Friday, 5 December 2014. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:45 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Conondale. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Kenilworth and Borumba Dam by 7:15 pm and Imbil and Kandanga by 7:45 pm. Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones are likely. 58mm of rainfall was recorded at Goomburra in the hour to 12:30pm. 97mm of rainfall was recorded at Mount Glorious in the hour to 4:15pm. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 7:40 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Northwest and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Channel Country, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
