RAF LEUCHARS PHOTOGRAPHER CAPTURES FIRST PLACE A Royal Air Force Photographer based at Leuchars has been awarded a first place in the annual RAF Photographic Competition. Senior Aircraftsman Richard Dudley was delighted to come out on top in the Technical/Engineering category with his entry entitled ‘New Tech’. Commissioned to provide a training reference for the RAF’s fast-jet squadrons, the image features a Typhoon Helmet Mounted Symbology System; headgear that provides frontline combat pilots with weapon-aiming data through its visor. SAC Dudley is no stranger to success, having been awarded both the RAF’s Student And Technical Photographer of the year awards in 2011. He said: “As an RAF Photographer it’s my job to support RAF activities worldwide. My duties range from newsgathering, public relations and specialist aerial survey to police photography and accident investigations. I also undertake illustrative taskings such as in the case of ‘New Tech’. A job well done is its own reward but it’s great to be recognised.” For more on the competition, and for information on how to vote for the Peoples Choice Image of the Year award, please visit: raf.mod.uk/rafleuchars/news/index.cfm?storyid=B60938AD-5056-A318-A8306A4362D23A3C
