*RANTY POST ALERT* I know its world AIDS day. And its great to spread awareness. But Im not happy with things Im seeing about it, especially within the gay male community. Writing a half-assed post about how great it is to get tested is not going to do shit if you really want to make a lasting difference. If this disease really affects your community, actually DO SOMETHING. Your social media post will be forgotten tomorrow and your footprint on the issue will be lost. Diseases like HIV and AIDS affect ALL of us. I see tons of gay men turn away from the subject when they dont think they have to deal with it. They throw a cute get tested! Post because that renews their advocate status but they dont do anything past that. Ignorance is NOT bliss. I definitely had this mindset not too long ago. If you dont have it, you dont acknowledge it. this does no good. I was just selfish. Please understand that we have a job to do. And although its great to spread this awareness, you have the capacity to so much more. When its not world AIDS day, dont just forget. Lets make a difference guys! Do some research and find ways that you can help within your community. Lets fight this. :)
