RDA 7 Steps July 23, 2012 to July 31, 2012 525-Any and all seeing difference between me and another maintains me as different, me as distinct, and therefore maintains ego (impostor self). Notice every idea of difference and look at it with the wise realization, “Believing this difference maintains the idea of separate individual self.” Allow the sight of sameness to come and replace the idea of difference. 526-Pride for knowing is an obstacle to true knowing. Listen to the wisdom of your Self, but realize that pride for wisdom is merely falling back on boosting the idea of false self again. 527-The answer is before mind. The answer is not in a mind that understands. Inner guidance will come to guide back to the state that precedes the birth of mind. Follow it, disregarding the crowds. Stay focused on the lone inner call. Disregard everything else. Awakening comes in only this way. 528-Before mind, no mind. THAT is awakening true. 529-Looking to the world for pleasure is an obstacle to awakening. Notice whenever the mind has latched onto needing an idea or circumstance for happiness, then release that idea immediately. Be willing to be happy with nothing…void…and you will find the golden key that opens the door to Self. 530-We fear loss of the familiar merely because it is unknown to us. But if it is unknown to us, do we know what we are letting fear keep us from? Forget fear of the unknown and stay focused on being that is present now. Follow inner guidance while remaining focused on present unchanging being. What occurs will occur naturally in this way. 531-Wanting to be enlightened is an obstacle to enlightenment when the idea of a self experiencing enlightenment is a part of the goal desired. No self, no experience; this is enlightenment. 532-Seek nothing. Let ego die by letting self fade. Do not exercise ego by not exercising “my” thoughts, opinions, ideas and points of view. Let each one die, disappearing into non-existing. In no thing, Self is found. 533-All thinking burdens with the idea of false self. No thinking seen as meaningful points clearly toward truth. “No thinking seen as meaningful” means: See not “my” thoughts as meaningful and have no opinion regarding “his” thoughts or “her” thoughts. 534-One is focused on the dream of self-body-world or one is not. The first leads to continuation of the belief in illusion. The second detaches from that belief and opens up to realization of true Self. 535-The belief in “I” is the sole error to be released. “I think,” “I choose,” and “I’m awakening.”This “I” is the error. Watch it. Notice it. See it. 536-The ideas “I think” and “I choose” reinforce the belief in separate, individual self. Surrendering the illusion of “I think” and “I choose” by noticing subtle intuition and proceeding from there weakens the ideas “I think” and “I choose,” and thereby weakens the sense of individual self. 537-The mind leads away from truth and the heart leads steadily toward it. For this reason, disregard the mind regardless of its story. Stay tuned into, in gentle quiet following, the intuitive knowing that is the heart. 538-Attachment continues illusion. Be willing to recognize and release every attachment, including the most core attachments and the most subtle, and be free. 539-“I” is the root of all evil, all problems, all suffering. And yet, “I” is treasured like the center gain of all gains. Notice how “I” is treasured, and then remember the truth about this phantom thought. Release attachment to the center gain, and all other gains fall away leaving only your Self. 540-What is ego? My thoughts, my perceptions, I. In relinquishing this attachment, all other attachments are also released. For without my thoughts, my perceptions and I, what is there to be attached to? 541-Before mind there is no I. With no I, there are no I-thoughts and there are no I-perceptions. Abide in before mind. Although this may seem impossible it is not, because there is intuitive guidance that leads this abiding. Stay still and stay tuned inward. Although shadows of I, I-thoughts and I-perceptions may appear, intuitive guidance shines a light on them. In light, shadows disappear. 542-What changes? It is not real. Disregard everything that changes, and abide firmly in what remains. 543-Do not feed the mind. Drop away from mind in whatever way seems doable as often as possible. Mind dies through lack of attention. Self, which cannot die, reigns supreme. 544-The mystery of Self can be sought after, but the mystery of Self cannot be found. Realization of this fact, mysteriously, ends mind and reveals Self. 545-The light shines always. Remove the ego, which blocks the light like a cloud blocks the sun, and the light is known. What is ego? I, my thoughts and my perceptions. 546-Who am I? Without questioning, false self is mistakenly taken as self; Attention and belief are given to ‘I’ as me and to ‘my’ thoughts and perceptions as mine. Questioning with the heart reveals false self as not me. Its thoughts, not my thoughts. Its perceptions, mistaken. When this is seen, attention and belief are naturally removed. Without attention and belief to keep it seeming, the apparition disappears because it never was more than that. 547-The final blow that wipes out ego forever is Grace’s overwhelming response to one’s ongoing desire to know thy Self. 548-Grace calls and grace answers the call. There may be the perception of effort and choosing in the process of answering, but it is grace that gives one the ability to effort and grace that gives one the ability to make the choice. Once called, awakening has begun. What has started will continue until there is no trace of ego remaining. Although a process may appear to be involved, the moment of no ego Only Self is always spontaneous. Until that moment has fully occurred, one does best to disregard ego and let it die.
