READING THE WATER Cobalt blue: way way deep... 500-1000 feet Navy blue: about 30- 100 Clear blue: 10-25 feet... ( often found in Channels) Turquoise : 5-10 deep (great anchoring except in grassy bottoms) Black circular spots: coral heads ,,, hard as rocks...beware. Sandy tan color: Avoid! It looks pretty but you WILL run aground here. PHOTO: On the left it is consistently 2-12 deep for miles and miles and miles forever (on the inside) On the right... The shelf drops off and it could be 1000 deep a mile off shore. The blue dot (thats me) is pulling up the anchor tomorow morn.... Then NE winds should blow me deeper South. So long Black Point.
