REFLECTION: FROM HER POVERTY. Generous giving out of our plenty is important and necessary. We should take care of our needs and those of our families. But we imitate Christ best when we give generously out of our poverty. Jesus words and the widows example are tough ones to follow for those of us who enjoy life in a culture of plenty. We will probably not have the courage or the faith to give it all away, every small coin we have to live on. Fr.George R.Szews writes, Those of us blessed with so much in this world will always have our generosity critiqued by the generosity of the poor. We will always think we have done all we should or all we can, until someone with fewer resources finds a way to do more. It is comforting to know that Jesus judges our lives and our actions not by their external appearance but by the quality of our love.
