REMINDER: A Contact Improvisation Workshop with Steve Batts 12 Noon – 5pm Saturday, November 29 & 2 – 6pm Sunday, November 30 2014 E40/20 concession Contact Improvisation is an open dance/movement form, accessible to everyone in which participants explore movement through supporting the weight of another person, rolling, falling, leaning, sliding and suspending. Steve Batts is Co-artistic Director of Echo Echo but also teaches Contact Improvisation (C.I) internationally. Steve has been dancing and teaching Contact since the early 1980s. He describes it as one of his biggest and most consistent joys in life. He has taught workshops at many dance festivals in countries such as Israel, Russia, Germany and Romania. While Contact Improvisation has a huge influence on Steve’s artistic work, he tries to teach it from the point of view of a participant rather than a director. The movement form is accessible to anyone with an interest in dance. It can help build strength and stability as well as challenge the imagination with it’s improvisory feel. Contact Improvisation is a dance form that explores bodies in motion as they lift, fall, roll, suspend and go with the flow. The emphasis is on discovery, safety and fun. You can hear Steve talk about Contact here: youtube/watch?v=BwVvQ2v-OK4 Workshop costs e40/e40 conc. Places are limited and booking is required. To book e-mail contact@galwaydanceproject or join the event on Facebook/GalwayDanceProject. Full Galway Dance Project programme details are also available at Facebook/Galway Dance Project. Galway Dance Project was established in 2011 to support the development of dance in Galway.
