RON: When we woke up this morning we thought it was going to be just another day at the hospital. The usual routine….get up early and eat…go to all the drills, physical therapy, speech..and so on and so on. Apparently God was in the miracle mood today because he really put the Wow in Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite. Usually while dressing Tristen stays on the bed while I hold him to keep him steady and let him pull up his pants while arching his back. Today for whatever Godcidence I decided to stand him on the floor next to the bed. Tristen was able to pull up his pants no problem at all. It is what happened next that is just WOW, I mean really WOW. I took his hand and we began to walk. Not like with the therapist does but just like a father holding his child’s hand walk. When the therapist walks with him they are using a belt which is attached to both Tristen and the therapist. The belt steadies Tristen and he relies on the belt to keep him steady. Not today we walked hand in hand out of the room and down the hall. As we passed the nurse station Tristen said “I walk with my daddy”. Everyone stopped and watched as we walked down the hall towards the gym. The same path he has taken week after week in a wheelchair he took today walking. We continued down the hall to the office of the therapist Tristen wanted everyone to see him walk. I had tears in my eyes as we walked by and people stopped to smile, it was truly an astounding moment. Sure he was unsteady and wobbly but he walked using both feet holding my hand. That is not the end of this miracle day; he got to go to the bathroom like a 6 year old should he was standing at the toilet. I know it sounds strange that I am excited by this, but he went to the bathroom every time today standing…no more accidents. Praise the LORD!!!! The news has spread throughout the hospital and today has brought much happiness to so many. That is not the end of our miracle; God has gifted us today with so much to be thankful for. Kristen changed it up in the afternoon while helping him walk. She stood on one side of the room and had me stand on the other side. Kristen had him walk to me about 10 feet away. In some ways it was more exciting than the first time he walked to me as a toddler. Now he thinks he is going to just go, wanted to walk up the stairs alone. We have to keep an eye on this little rascal he is going to be thinking he can go go and go. WOW could this day get any better? Didn’t think so until Tristen used his left hand to build a tower of blocks. This is exciting since this hand has been immobile and he has not used it. To be able to stack blocks with it today is just absolutely amazing. He is tired now and watching TV but still very excited about his day. He wants everyone to know “I walked with daddy”!! We even went to The Zone tonight and played air hockey. He had to sit for this since I was a little too far away for comfort, mine not his. I have cried some tears of Joy today and want everyone to know “I walked with my son”. Hallelujah everyone keep it up PUSH!!! When you comment tell us where you are from. We believe that it is through all the prayers that Tristen is where he is today. We believe that it is the reason that Anslee has been safe and healed. We believe that your prayers have kept us going and kept us motivated. We believe that God has performed a miracle and all of you had a chance to be a part of it. Can’t wait for Dana to get back with Anslee and see this herself. What joy it will be to have Tristen and Anslee holding hands and walking together. GOD IS GREAT!!!!
