Reading through my quiet time this morning, Im left thinking... We have yet to decorate this year for our own reasons, mainly checking our hearts to make sure that what we do on a daily basis reflects God and His truths. No gifts have been bought, no tree cut down. Do we go with the popularity of traditions of men or stand on the Word? We celebrate the birth of Jesus daily, right? Or our we celebrating the long lines in the stores we conquered to buy that perfect gift for a loved one? We can realize as Christians that Jesus wasnt really born on December 25th, that decorating our homes with trees and holiday cheer is not the most important thing to do and was solely done over hundreds of years as traditions, and quite frankly for some all it means is visiting a church on one day of the year. And, is it really worth the effort to argue with someone if they say, Merry XMas or Christmas? They both mean the same. My point is this, why do we do it? If Im celebrating the birth of a Savior, then Im doing it every day, all year long. Throughout the hustle and bustle, Im reminding myself over and over of the truth to this holiday. Im thinking of forgoing it all and sitting down with as many people as I can and share nothing but Him. Bob and Rhyan have been really encouraging in sharing their faith this past week. I cant think of a better gift to give.
