Recently, Donald Kipkorir raised a question with Tullows continuous oil discoveries, confined to African countries like Kenya, Nigeria and some other smaller and countries of little relevance like Uganda, S. Sudan. Every time Tullow makes a discovery their shares somewhere in US America, or Canada, or Europe shoots up. But amidst all the discoveries Tullow has never drilled, refined and or exported oil, for over 10 years. He wondered why the Shell BPs, Total, PETRONAS, Caltex etc were never anywhere to be seen in these discoveries. The long and short is that he made it sound like the Tullow Turkana oil discoveries was a sister to the Quail eggs/pyramid scheme saga. He poured cold water on this new areas of interest or practice for lawyers despite the numerous scholarships to develop capacity in oil-gas law. The oil and gas plenary at Leisure Lodge during last years LSK Annual Conference attracted more audience than the one that had Hon. Dr Otieno Odek J, Gibson Kamau et al. I find his concerns quite valid.
