Recently I was excited to hear from a follower of this page that there was a new MLM company entering the scene that was going to be providing its customers with access to the analysis each batch of essential oil so that people could see the quality of the oil they were selling. This would certainly be a first in the industry! Sadly, after checking the recently launched website with an actual batch number, it turns out that the analysis report does not really tell the customer anything that would allow them to make any kind of quality assessment. They basically list the names of a few of the main components of the oil but do not disclose any percentages of the components found in that batch of oil. The oils may be perfectly good quality but please people, dont be fooled into thinking they are providing you with any kind of real analytical data. I was so hoping the claims were true but lets be clear, NOBODY could make any kind of quality assessment with the data they are providing. Without the actual GC/MS data showing not only the major components but also the very important minor components, ALONG WITH THE PERCENTAGE OF EACH COMPONENT, the analysis is useless!!!! My point of posting this is so that people wont be fooled into yet another marketing ploy that sounds scientific to the layperson but really doesnt tell you anything. To my knowledge, none of the MLMs out their are releasing real analytical data on their oils. They cant do this for several reasons, but mainly to protect intellectual property. The chemistry of the oil is what determines its quality and effectiveness and knowing what chemicals to look for (especially the minor components) is what gives a company its competitive advantage. Not only this but by giving a complete analysis of the oil away they are also potentially giving away the supplier of the oil because someone like me can easily trace the root source of the company distilling the oil if given the chemical breakdown. In summary, if a company isnt giving you a complete component breakdown of their oil with component ID and percentages (the types of reports you see me post frequently on this site) then they are not giving you an analysis of their oil and any claims of such should be promptly rebuked as an outright lie.
