Reflections from my Friday morning drive to work (12/26): Happy - TopicsExpress

Reflections from my Friday morning drive to work (12/26): Happy day after Christmas morning to you. On my drive to work this morning I was greeted with a beautiful sunrise that God was painting, bringing a new day to life. I hope you all had a good Christmas as we celebrated the only Reason we can have hope. For some of you, it’s been a great year filled with new adventures and your holiday was filled with lots of joy and laughter. For others, I know this holiday season has been painful as you have experienced great loss in your life. Wherever you find yourself at this time of year, my greatest wish is that you will know how much you are loved by a Father who is weaving the pieces of your life – the good, the bad and the ugly – into a beautiful tapestry that will be an eternal witness to His unending mercy and grace. May we remember that the purpose of our creation is to bring glory to our Creator, to spend time and eternity with Him – in the here and now, as well as in the world to come. When I think of what my life was like BC (before Christ), I shudder at the thought. The emptiness, the loneliness, the hopelessness – it pushed me deeper into depression and despair. When I didn’t think life could get any worse, when I had finally reached the end of myself and my own devices and schemes in controlling my life, it was only then that I could see Jesus, arms outstretched, patiently waiting for me to turn to Him. My life AD (after accepting Jesus’ death for me personally) has not been free of pain and suffering. There have still been plenty of trials; times I thought I just might die from the aching I felt inside; times that it felt like everything was spinning out of control. But there was something I didn’t have before, something that was a game-changer, something that kept me from utter despair – I had found HOPE. Hope will give you the will to go on, to keep moving forward, to never give up. Hope will fill your heart with a peace that has no human understanding. Hope will bring rest to your soul and give you the strength to face the hard stuff in life. And hope will lead you to your eternal home where you will spend eternity in the presence of the One who has promised to “wipe every tear from your eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things will (one and for all) be gone forever.” (Revelation 21:4) I wish you the eternal HOPE that can only be found in Jesus. May you have a HOPE-filled day!
