Reicks View Farm from Iowa is planning on developing a CAFO (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) in the Hwy 63 and Hwy 2 area more specifically, Franzel & Curry Rd. They will raise pigs, 5,000 sows to be exact (well actually theyll raise 150 piglets under the CAFO cap for the first year so as not to technically be a CAFO Farm until they are established in the area). They will use slated floors to collect the waste under ground for 1 yr, then pump said waste out and insert it into 2,500 acres of surrounding soil. Sounds like great fertilizer, right? Wrong, there is a new virus called the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDv) which kills 100% of infected piglets.
