Remember the song in the 80s that went Sometimes I feel like, somebodies watching me Well today Companies such as Comcast and Time Warner and Security Based companies as well as medical alert companies all have a dirty little secret they are hiding from their customers. That SECRET IS:WHEN YOU INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM FROM ONE OF THE ISProviders, they set up cameries all thru your house and around the Perimeter if you have that kind of loot lying around. What no one even realizes is there are two type of signals that make up the Distribution of that signal. They are called UPSTREAM and DOWNSTREAM.Or simply a forward and a return of this signal which all companies use to address your box for upgrades or disconnects. This means every camera you watch in your house is also watching you. Let that just sink in a minute. Of course when I worked at Comcast for 6 years before I went to Fox and CBS. What I learned by curiousity did not set well with me.Longstory Short; I picked up some equipment from an unhappy customer who took apart his digital boxes and handed me all the peices. I thought to myself he must be really upset with his service. So I ask him SUP? The customer had told me he actually loved his service, til one night he and his wife were in the bedroom one night and bla bla they were enjoying each others company when a flash of light came from the front display of his cable box. He has noticed this before but this was getting weird. So he being an Electrical Engineer, took apart the cable box and found a tiny camera inside pointing outward. He took apart all the boxes and comfiscated all the tiny cameras and I never spoke to him anymore after that. So I learned a lot about these companies while employed there. TRUST WHEN I SAY THEY HAVE ALREADY PUT THIS SYSTEM IN PLACE AND THEN THEY PASS LAWS LATER. THIS IS A VOLUNTARY PROGRAM TO LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE SECURITY, BUT I WARN YOU THEY DO NOT SPEND BILLIONS ON A SECRET SYSTEM JUST TO HAVE A LAW NOT GO THRU. We’re almost becoming a society that expects cameras to be watching us,” says Lewis of SecurityHive.“If it really sinks in to people that they may be watched by police anywhere they go, it will have a chilling effect on how we use public spaces,” says the ACLU’s Stanley. “But I don’t think it’s inevitable that we face a future of mass surveillance everywhere and at all times. Sometimes people tell me, ‘Oh, Jay, you can’t stop technology.’ But we as a society can shape how it’s deployed.”Here are a few other recent surveillance innovations, both high- and low-tech:Skywatch mobile surveillance towers, used by New York City police during the 2011 Occupy Wall Street demonstrations, are now showing up across the country. Hydraulics elevate a command cabin 25 feet. Manufactured by Oregon-based FLIR Systems, the devices cost about $125,000, though many are purchased with Homeland Security grants or as discounted military surplus. Among other places, they have been used recently during mass gatherings and in mall parking lots in Clearwater, Fla., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Norman, Okla., and in the Texas cities of Arlington and Garland and at Baylor University in Waco.PublicEye, a real-time data-fusion platform for smart phones and tablets, is being used by several police and fire departments in the Boston area. Manufactured by Zco of Nashua, N.H., the software feeds various information streams to an officer’s phone at the scene of an emergency—allowing the officer, for example, to monitor interior security camera feeds during a school shooting.Persistent Surveillance Systems of Dayton, Ohio, is marketing “wide area motion imagery” systems that use airplane-mounted high-definition cameras to give police a record of every movement on the ground over a 25-square-mile area for up to six hours. Knightscope of Silicon Valley has created K2, a mobile robot security guard that stands 5 feet tall, weighs 300 pounds, and is equipped with cameras and a license plate.
