Request all my Indian Muslim FB friends to respond. ~ Mohan Bhagwat, RSS chief declares that India is essentially a Hindutwa nation. ~ Time for another difficult question especially to the Indian Islamists and leaders of various Muslim organizations. ~ Are we Indian Muslims secular and accept the Indian secular constitution because we are in a Minority? ~ If India would have been a Muslim majority, then would you have supported a secular state and the Ambedkarite Constitution, or would you have demanded an Islamic State? ~ In my honest assessment after having spoken to a cross-section of the religious leadership and to Islamists, I see a great deal of hypocrisy and sheer lies. Practically none were willing to give an answer in a simple yes or no, and kept on beating around the bush, knowing full well in their hearts that their commitment to secularism and Indias liberal democracy was out of sheer strategy and convenience and not borne out of a principled belief in a secular state vs a theocracy. ~ It would be better for Indian Islamists to end this charade of their commitment to Indias secular ethos, and would be best advised to state their claim to a theocracy when in a majority, whilst supporting the rightwing RSS call, as they would have done in their stead. ~ Thus only those who support the concept of a secular liberal democracy, where all citizens have equal rights, all religions are equal, where all are free to profess, convert and practise their faith, where the head of state can be from any religious belief, where no one religion is supreme over the others - have the moral right to oppose the RSS-Mohan Bhagwats call. Those who would have declared an Islamic, Jewish, Christian, Sikh or Buddhist state - do not have the moral right.
