Roys Medical Update, Monday 3-31-2014 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Im off to St. Josephs Hospital for a defibrillator implant. Im supposed to there by 9 a.m. and the surgery is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. I went last Wednesday for the pre-opt. I met with 6 different people, gave 3 vials of blood, take an EKG, signed a lot of papers, and was there for 2.5 hours. I had my shoulder operated on in 2007 and I was in & out in about 45 minutes. I had been told that I would be under light sedation, but I learned that was not the case and will be out like a rock. The convincing statement was you dont want to wake up when Im cutting on you! :-) I will be glad to get rid of my Sear Diehard battery and bra Ive been wearing and carrying around since December. The temps are getting a little warmer now, so I now know what a woman feels like in hot, humid Florida in the summertime. If everything goes well, then I should be released from the hospital and able to come home tomorrow (Tuesday). Hopefully, my recoup time wont be too long. My doc said I shouldnt lift anything heavy (10-20 lbs. max) for 4-6 weeks. I asked what do I do when I need to lift my fat ass off of the couch? I finally got a chuckle out of him! :-)
