Rusty is still stable and hanging in there. Theyve been able to decrease the amount of oxygen hes getting from the ventilator and so far hes tolerating it well. Still in renal failure, but his lab work isnt bad enough today to require dialysis. The nephrologist said yesterday that he is still pretty certain that the renal failure will resolve. During his sedation vacation yesterday, when he heard our voices, he would turn his head toward us and open his eyes. Hes still on a Fentanyl drip for pain, so that is keeping him from waking up completely, Im sure. But he definitely knew our voices, and since then it has taken a higher dose of Diprivan to keep him sedated. I think hes ready to wake up. (And probably tell Kristi & me to stop screaming in his damn ears. Hes had to hear it for almost a week now 😁)
