SAHOOR TALK The POWER of a Mothers Duaau (PRAYERS) Shaykh Al-Kalbaani, former Imam of the Kaabah, at a conference in London told his story: When I was young, I was a very naughty boy. I would make my mother angry. But my mother, Allah bless her, was a very righteous woman and she knew the power of Duaau. She made it her habit that, in her anger at me, she would say this Duaau: May Allah guide YOU! And make you the IMAM of the Kaabah! Imam Al-Kalbani said further, so Allah answered her duaau and I went on to become the Imam of the Kaabah! Shaykh Adil Kalbani is the son of a poor immigrant from the Persian Gulf. In an interview with NYTimes, Shaykh Kalbani said, Leading prayers at the Grand Mosque is an extraordinary honor, usually reserved for pure-blooded Arabs from the Saudi heartland. I was taken aback when I came to know that King Abdullah had chosen me as the first black Imam of Masjid al-Haram (in recent times). Ya dhal jallal wal ikhraam! Allah Akbar! WISDOM Never underestimate the power of a mothers prayer (or even curse). May Allah bless all mothers.
