SARAH PALIN says President Obama should be impeached if the government defalts. How is a default - Presidents Obamas fault? And under what law should such an impeachment be titled? The US Constitution clearly states it is the Congress responsibility and particularly the US House to fund the government. The U.S. Constitution (Article I, section 9, clause 7) states that No money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time. Article I. Section 7 reads: All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills. “Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it.” OP-ED COMMENT: This is an easy statement for Ms. Palin to make, because she obviously hasn’t read the US Constitution, because if she did, she wouldn’t make such a stupid remark. The President of the US seems to be operating well within the full scope and authority provided under the US Constitution. The House’s failure to pass a spending bill that can be approved by the US Senate and the President of the US, speaks volumes about certain representatives and their leaders to adequately embrace their Constitionally-required responsibilities. capitalisminstitute.org/defaulting-is-impeachable/
