SCAA condemns the latest attack on our PUL Culture!!! An Orange lodge in Tyrone has urged those attacked their hall to reconsider their actions. A six-inch block was thrown through a window at the rear of Timpany Orange Hall, which sits on the side of the A4 between Clogher and Fivemiletown, this week. It broke the window frame and damaged the floor inside the hall. A large stone was also thrown through one of the road-facing windows. Worshipful Master of LOL 889 Brian Ramsay said the hall has been standing for more than 100 years and had never been attacked. However, it has now been attacked twice in the last few months. “Even throughout the course of the Troubles the hall was never damaged. It’s sad, while we never had to erect cameras or security doors and windows in the past, that we will now have to consider such measures to ensure the protection of the hall,” he said. “We’ve our annual parade and service in the hall on Sunday which will go ahead as normal. I know the community will support us but I appeal to those behind the attacks to step back and consider the pointless nature of their actions.” Fivemiletown District Master Mark Robinson and County Tyrone Grand Secretary Trevor Lockhart also spoke of their disappointment and urged people who may be angry with the hall being targeted to be calm and remember the Christian principles upon which the Order is founded. They reminded people that the matter is with the police and it should be left to them to investigate. DUP Clogher Valley councillor Wills Robinson said those behind the attacks “do so out of intolerance but do not represent the community in which they live”. “Clogher Valley is a place where neighbours respect and help neighbours. I don’t want that atmosphere polluted or dragged back,” he said. The PSNI has appealed for information about the attack.
