SEEK DAILY (NBC) Tuesday, February 4 2 Chronicles 19:1-7 JUDGING ON THE LORD’S BEHALF …You are not judging for man but for the Lord…. 2 Chronicles 19:6, NIV Jehoshaphat admonished judges in the cities of Judah to carefully consider their actions. He meant that everything they did must be borne out of God’s wisdom so that their judgments would be faultless. Consequently, he raised some issues on fair and honest judgment: (1) they were judging on behalf of God. So, their judgments must be according to His standard as contained in His Word. (2) God is a witness to their judgments. That is, God is always with them and so there is no room for errors due to threat, intimidation or the like. (3) They were to allow the fear of God in their hearts so that they would not pervert the course of justice. (4) God is impartial; so there is no injustice in Him. That is, if they relied, loved and obeyed God, they would always get it right. God is not a respecter of anyone; just as He confronted Jehoshaphat in verse 2 of our text, He confronted Abraham, Moses, David, Saul and other great men of old. He will also confront you if you display injustice where He has put you. He is a jealous God and the defender of the weak. Do not think your position as an elder brother or sister, senior at work or in school or even as husband or wife at home, is to make you ill-treat others. • Birthday Blessing: “I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line…” Jeremiah 33:15 Read Bible Through Passage: Exodus 31, 32; Matthew 24:1-14 All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on God being with them. - J.
