SERVICE ADDITION: One of the most common issues encountered by - TopicsExpress

SERVICE ADDITION: One of the most common issues encountered by parents of children on the autism spectrum is the difficulties associated with hair cutting, and this can be equally challenging for not only the kids but for parents as well. We are delighted at PAS to be able to trial a hairdressing service once a month until June to see if this will be a useful support to parents. Alongside Aoife from Craic N Hair, we will be offering half an hour appointments from 4.30pm on Tuesday 20th May and Tuesday 24th June at our centre 28-30 Market Street, Perth. The service will allow the children to come along to the centre and be comfortable in familiar surroundings, we will have a number of visual aids for parents to use to help support the children and there is no pressure to actually cut hair! The children can spend the appointment time getting to know Aoife, learning what will happen with haircuts and taking things very slowly, if anxieties do rise, the parents can be confident that they are in a supportive, understanding environment. We will hopefully extend this service on a monthly basis onwards from June, but we need to initially gauge the interest in this by trialling the appointments for two months. Cuts will cost between £5-10 depending on what is done! For further information or to book an appointment, please contact Angie or Jennifer on 01738 451081 or email [email protected]
