SKIN CANCER CASES SOAR It appears Canadians arent getting the message about protecting their skin from the harmful rays of the sun. The Canadian Cancer Society says skin cancer cases -- particularly the most deadly form of it -- are rising at an alarming rate. It projects more than 80-thousand skin-cancer cases this year, nearly the same as the top four cancers combined -- lung, breast, prostate and colorectal cancer. About 65-hundred of the skin-cancer cases will be melanoma, and just over one-thousand Canadians will die from it. The society estimates 191-thousand Canadians will get some sort of new cancer diagnosis this year, and nearly a third of those cases will be fatal.
