SO! If youre anywhere in the world with a form of media that broadcasts the news, you probably know there is a Nato summit taking place in the UK this weekend. If youre in the UK, you will likely know that this is taking place is South Wales...i suspect Cardiff has been mentioned a good few times. I happen to be in Newport, where the Celtic Manor is located, where this summit is taking place. For the past two weeks, i gotta tell you...this place has been on lock down. Its nigh on a militarized zone. Cops walking around in gangs of 4 & 5, riot vans driving in groups of threes, road closures, transport alterations and delays...two protests and more fly overs from police and military helicopters than i can count. I am fed up to the back teeth of them, and of it all. IDK man...is a group of leaders discussing issues really worth all this hassle?...Will they actually achieve anything worthwhile? Rolling out the red carpets for people whose sole achievement has been to perpetuate the mistakes and crimes their predecessors have created. Im ready for them to eff off back to their respective corners of the world and leave my shitty little city return to its usual run down, completely underwhelming state of normality.
