SPECULATIONS ON THE MISSING MALAYSIAN BOEING 777 The internet is packed with conspiracy theories and speculations regarding the missing Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777. With so much reading hours spent on aerospace technologies, particularly on avionics and weapon systems, I cant help but join the fray :-). Let me start with a statement of fact: the Boeing 777 is one of the most advanced commercial passenger aircraft in the world. The aircraft was built with the extensive use of computer aided design, high strength alloys and composite materials. Among the aircrafts advance features are the avionics, communication and flight control suite with redundant safety systems. The aircraft can practically fly on its own, when programmed to do so. The advanced robotic features of the 777 is both a boon to air travel safety, as it also opens the possibility of unauthorized remote access and control using drone technology. Remote access is a mature technology in ICT and used everyday to troubleshoot malfunctioning servers, workstations, modems or any computer controlled devices for that matter. With confirmed reports of MAS flight 370 making 110 degree turn, dropping from an elevation of 10,000 to 3,000 meters as it headed towards a remote section of the Indian ocean. The prospect of an unauthorized control of the aircraft is highly probable given the new information. Access to the Boeing 777 avionics and flight control with remote command assuming control of the aircraft can be established through satellite communication interface. Any space faring nation (or civilization) with the ability to launch, control and guide spacecrafts thousands or millions of kilometers up in space has the capability to do so by applying combined technologies to control a robotic aircraft like the Boeing 777. boeing/boeing/commercial/777family/
