SPORTS - Farewell, Father of Malaysian Hockey PETALING JAYA (May 29): The Malaysian and the international hockey fraternity mourned the loss of Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, who passed away yesterday leaving behind a huge legacy in the Malaysian hockey scene. Sultan Azlan Shah who is remembered as the ‘Father of Malaysian hockey’ for his contributions to the sport for over 41 years, both as a player and administrator, passed away at the Institute Jantung Negara (IJN) at 1.30 pm yesterday. He leaves behind Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Bainun; a prince, the Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah; and three princesses, Raja Datuk Seri Azureen, Raja Datuk Seri Aleena and Raja Datuk Seri Yong Sofia. Former hockey great Datuk R. Yogeswaran who also hails from Perak was saddened by the demise of Sultan Azlan Shah who was his idol in hockey. Click below for the full article:
