Reed issues this statement as follows: As the year draws to a close I want to announce two Triumphs in the case which is at the United States Supreme Court in an Interlocutory Appeal and will come back down to the lower Court. 1. Cameras --- In this case copies have been sent to the Justice Department and now the President has 75 Million going to cameras. “The City was not truthful about the mics. The City Attorney finally turned over official policy that says officers are to be miced up all day. The City Attorney one of four the City has had on the case said officer Hicks had no idea what a cruiser video is, then changed to turned off when car parked, then to only comes on when car in hot pursuit on and on and on. US Government promising $263 million for law enforcement agencies that want to buy body cameras for their officers. About $75 million of the fund is for purchasing the cameras themselves (up to 50,000 of them); the rest is devoted to storage, training and outreach programs. 2. The city did not have insurance meaning no real judicial jurisprudence. The City announced this summer they now have insurance. Putting the issue squarely in the case in a number of motions in Federal District Court, Federal Appeals Court and the United States Supreme Court. The City should not be able to use 12 attorney’s to stop any claims against the City claiming they cannot pay because they have no insurance --- too expensive $500,000 about the amount paid to all the lawyers and assistants the law department has.
