STATEMENT OF WITNESS ( C.J Act 1967, ss. 2,9; M.C Rules 1968, r.58) Statement of: John Alfred Smithers. Age: 36. Occupation Car Salesman. Address: Flat 4, Paradise Court, Ealing, London W5. On Tuesday afternoon I was at Ascot races with my girlfriend, Isadora Bell. We left my flat at 1 oclock in my white Jaguar and drove to Ascot. We didnt stop for petrol but we had lunch in a pub. I dont remember the name of the pub, but it was somewhere between London and Ascot. We had beer and sandwiches outside. We arrived at the race-track at 1.55 time for the first race. We stayed there until the last race at 5 oclock. We were very lucky. I won a lot of money but I cant remember exactly how much. Thats why I had a lot of money in my flat when the police came to my flat at 6.00. I left Isadora in Central London. She wanted to buy some clothes in Oxford Street. I dont know where she is now. 20-06-1979 Statement taken and signature witnessed by: D Cooper Rank and Number: PC 3249. Signed: John A. Smithers. by Thu Hà
