SUNDAY ...TALKS .... 7- 20 -14 ‘HURT IN CHURCH” (A matter of Trust and Confidence) To work in the so called church, we must first realize that the church is a closed society of people with varying idiosyncrasies, personalities, education levels, economic and political outlooks, and some that are truly not there for the right thing; (clearly these are wolves) but they are factors in the church nonetheless along with all the different strengths of Christians from weak (babes who need milk) to those who are strong (those who are ready for meat). With all of these any believer can run into a spiritual challenge when confronted with a difference of opinion, especially when dealing with any one of the previous and naturally if they have the seniority membership or the position of authority. This is where Love and Patience plays a vital and pivotal role in communications in trying to introduce something new or different into the way things have been operating. One of the hardest things to do is introduce an idea or method of doing that is totally outside of another person’s frame of reference. One of My classroom experiences at Cleveland State Psych class (38 years ago), “Dr. H, Which would it be easier to do? Teach an old dog a new trick or a new dog an old trick?” He pondered for a moment and replied before a class of about 100 students, Mr Williams, “it would be easier to teach and old dog a new trick rather than a new dog an old trick, because an old dog is use to learning...!” (After that I had no more questions and remained quit for some time). “Where did you get those wounds?” (And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. Zech 13:6) Don’t be surprised when Your own family turn against you..! And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth. Zech 13:3 There are going to be preachers who are going to deny their own words..!! And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive: Zech 13:4 (“No I did not say that”) Some are going give up on preaching all together for many reasons, but they will not be valid reasons..!! But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth. Zech 13:5 You can expect to be hurt in the church because our Lord and Savior was not immune to the operations of church judgments and decrees. And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. Zech 13:6 You must remember that God wants to refine us by Fire..!!! And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. Zech 13:9 Anybody ever been hurt working in the church? Well Christ more so; for He was wounded for our transgressions….. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isa 53:3 Remember it was church folks that took JESUS to trial and had Him sentenced to Death by Crucifixion..!!! Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Isa 53:4 He was hurt for us on many levels and in many ways to secure our Redemption..!! But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isa 53:5 Perplexed --- We must prepare for what’s coming next and not let Satan overwhelm us ..!!! We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 2Cor 4:8 We must keep in mind that God Sees and He Knows all about our situation..!!! Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 2Cor 4:9 Pray without ceasing and in all things give thanks for this is His will..!!! Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2Cor 4:10 His strength is made perfect in our weakness; Just Keep CALLING ON HIS Holy Name…!!! For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 2Cor 4:11 We can endure and overcome all things through Christ..! He Lives..!! Jah..Lives..!!! Glory to God..!!
