Saturday 20th September 2014, Canada. Alberta. HWY 35 Meander River - High Level. Distance 73.04km connect.garmin/activity/599550943 A big days run today but vs camping short of town there was little choice. Around 10 days back when I was staying at Rowes construction camp Mackenzie highway I received a message from Kerry who lives here in High Level offering a place to stay when I reach town. I hadnt ran even an hour when a truck pulled to a halt in front of me and the driver handed me breakfast hot bagel there for you, seen you running yesterday amazing, fresh juice, and a warm bacon n egg sandwich on the road! The first 35km of todays run was going fine, its warmed up a little again this last week and so I ran a few km barefoot as it was the perfect temperature. I also wanted some feedback on my gait as Ive had some soreness in one of my knees and although my shoes are worn, theyre a very minimal Style shoe Inov8 shoes were producing minimal style shoes before the barefoot raze took off. Stupidly I then ate around a litre of fresh fruit salad and a mars for lunch an awful-combination that resulted in agonising indigestion all afternoon. Just over 8 hours running today but it took 11.5 hours, (I had planned around 9.5 hours) to do this as I had to keep stopping my stomach cramping with gas. Kerry came met me on the edge of town It wasnt long before dark (8pm, losing daylight fast now as we move into Fall) And he drove-escorting me the last 2.4km to their house. A huge meal of potatoes, ribs and corn felt amazing! Im real tired now after a huge day running through stomach pain so hitting the sack. Tomorrow I wont run, I need to sort some kit and check my maps for the next section.
