Saturday update: Today we had a bit up a hiccup in our routine. Yesterday we started our chemo later than expected. So the Dr. and nurse and I discussed moving it earlier today. So we made the plans and double checked the details. Chemo would move forward to 1:00pm, still allowing Lucas some time off his tails or IV fluids to get exercise while he still can. As it turns out both the Dr and Nurse overlooked a need for a 2 hour hydration period... so by the time they caught it we had already been unhooked for over an hour and the time had passed for the hydration to be complete before the nurse shift change. So now because of the mixup we get chemo everyday at 4pm, and no more freedom from our IV pole, Baxter. Drats! Ah well, it will be fine, though I am a bit sad Lucas will have to drag his Baxter around if we want to go for a walk. Todays walk was great though, we explored all around the 4th floor and saw all new walls and pictures! ;) We also had a few visitors. His sisters came and helped him eat his dinner. We are always trying to get him to eat, its our biggest issue at this time. Ideas or thoughts on getting a chemo kid to eat will be appreciated. Weve tried games, positive reinforcement, toys or privileges... Its all hit and miss. I know his appetite is low from the tumor pressing on his upper GI tract and stomach, then throw in chemo... OY, what a dilemma! Do you think bringing in outside food is wise?
