Science of the day: mass vs/ weight WEIGHT depends on the intensity of the gravitational force, whereas MASS can be calculated based on its resistance to motion. MASS is constant for a particular quantity and type of matter, and WEIGHT is dependent upon a MASSs attraction to a large body, such as a planet. They are fundamentally different.
