Seventeen years ago today on Easter Sunday, March 30, 1997 I took my first selfie after I did a face plant in front of Eastridge Mall. After 3 months of a crash diet, running 10 miles that morning, then hopping on my rollerblades while the family was still sleeping, my electrolyte depletion put me face down on the pavement. A concussion, seven stitches on the bridge of my nose, and twelve stitches inside my upper lip had me home from the hospital about six hours after I collided with concrete, face first. Not sure why I took it with such a goofy expression on my achy face. That concussion affected me for weeks at work and coaching my sons baseball team. Constantly repeating myself then forgetting what I was talking about just minutes earlier.
